2021 Indoor Tug of War Season - Week 2 Results
The second week of indoor tug of war competition took place at Bakewell showground with Uppertown, Kilroe (A and B), Raunds and Bosley (A and B) taking part in the senior mens competitions. In addition, a mixed mens under 23 and ladies competition took place with Bosley and Kilroe forming teams to give the ladies and under 23 pullers in attendance some additional pulling.
The catchweight competition saw Kilroe finish unbeaten in the group rounds with Raunds finishing ahead of Uppertown to make the final. Kilroe won the final by 2 ends to 0. The 600kg competition followed, with some good tight competition in this weight. Bosley and Uppertown finished joint top and level on points after the group round and met again in the final, with Uppertown winning the re-match by 2 ends to 0.
Following the completion of the 600kg competition, the mixed ladies and under 23 competition took place. Kilroe were the stronger team on the day and after a couple of rounds of pulling, finished unbeaten. Well done to the ladies and youngsters for turning out once again and taking part in this weight as well as participating in other senior mens weight classes. The 680kg competition was a closely fought weight class. No team went through this competition without dropping any ends and there was lots of tough pulling. Uppertown finished top of the group, and they were joined by Bosley in the final who finished as runners up. Uppertown proved to be the stronger team in the final winning by 2 ends to 0.
The 620kg competition was again another tight weight class, with lots of competitive pulling. Bosley and Raunds finished joint top of the group level on points ahead of the other teams competing and both took part in another good final. Raunds took the first end, and following a very exciting second end, Raunds took the pull and the win.
The final weight of the day was the 640kg competition. Uppertown finished top of the group, and they were joined in the final again by Bosley. After some more good competitive pulling, Uppertown took both ends to win their third weight of the day.
Well done to all of the teams who took part. The next event is the AAA indoor championships on Sunday 7 November.
