England Junior Tug of War
The Tug of War Association is looking to form England squads to compete at Junior level at the World Outdoor Tug of War Championships in Holten, Netherlands on 14 - 18 September, and the British and Irish Championships in Wales on 13/14 August.
The weight classes are as follows:
- Junior Men – 560kg Worlds & B&I
- Junior Ladies – 480kg Worlds, 520kg B&I
- Junior Mixed – 520kg Worlds
The English Tug of War Association, has a strong tradition at international tug of war winning numerous medals at World, European and British Championship level.
For Championships and to represent England at TWIF Competitions, the TWIF age group will apply, currently being, the puller is eligible to pull as a junior from the beginning of the year in which the puller reaches the age of 14 years, until the end of the year in which the puller reaches the age of 18.
It is an exciting opportunity for you to aim for and to fulfil your dream of representing England. Our Junior teams have previously come from a wide variety of back grounds – some come from both established tug of war clubs and newer clubs in our Association and we have a strong connection with young farmers clubs, military teams and other organisations. We are open to everyone who would like try out and earn a place in the England Junior Squads.
We ask that anyone interested in representing England at junior level and becoming part of the junior squads please contact Joe Birch as soon as possible which will enable him to prepare for the international competitions taking place later this year. Please indicate your availability to attend the British and Irish Championships in Wales on 13/14 August, and the World Championships on 14-18 September 2022.
The England junior squads meet up throughout the season at different competition venues or training grounds throughout the country to prepare as a team so you must be able to travel to meet and train together.
