Join the TOWA
Affilliation to the Tug of War Association is open to any tug of war team (male, female and youth, military, cadet, YFC teams, etc.) in England or any individual. Clubs may become full members of the Tug of War Association or Associate Members - Associate membership is ideal for new clubs.
Membership fees - 2022
Fee per club - £150.00 (full membership)
Associate Club Membership - £30.00
Individual membership per person - £40.
Husband/wife Membership - £45
Individual Puller Registration Fees
Team member registration to compete throughout the season - £10.00 per pulling member. The £10 fee applies to members of all clubs who are either full members or associate members. This fee is free for youth pullers under the age of 18. All pullers must be registered to be eligible to participate in TOWA championship events (national, AAA, inter county) and international events.
To register your team with us, then you should complete a registration form, which can be obtained by e-mailing the Secretary

Membership fees can be paid by cheque (cheques should be made payable to "The Tug of War Association") or you can pay by bank transfer using the following details:

Before making payment via bank transfer, we advise that you contact the TOWA Treasurer, Adele Hamer, by phone on 01422 823397 to verify our account details. The TOWA does not accept responsibility if you transfer funds to the wrong account. Please note also that we do not e-mail you regarding changes to our account details, so if you receive any e-mails telling you to pay into a different account then please do not pay any money into such accounts, and please inform us if you receive any suspicious communications.
Handbooks, which contain TOWA rules, etc. can also be purchased at a cost of £5. These are provided at no cost for club and individual members of the TOWA.
Permits for holding competitions can also be obtained from the secretary at the current cost of £20 per event. Permitted competitions must have qualified TOWA judges in attendance and qualified first aid in attendance.
All Tug of War Association competitions are covered by third party (public liability) insurance provided they have a permit, which applies to the tug of war arena/spectator area only, and not car parking areas/wider venue areas (e.g. where tug of war competitions run under a permit are held at a show, public liability insurance only applies to the tug of war arena and not the whole showground).
The TOWA has associate membership for new/novice clubs. If you are part of a club that does not compete on a regular basis, then your club may apply to the Hon Gen Secretary for associate membership. Associate members pay only a token annual membership fee (currently £30 per annum). Associate member clubs do not have any voting rights at a TOWA AGM and are not eligible to represent England at international events.
