2021 Indoor Tug of War League - Week 4 Results

The fourth week of the indoor tug of war league took place in Bakewell at the weekend with Raunds, Bosley, Uppertown and Kilroe taking part in the catchweight, 680, 640, 600 and 580kg competitions. Whilst some teams were down on a few members from the previous week, there was still some good competitive pulling throughout the day.

The first weight of the day was the catchweight competition, which Uppertown won without losing an end, with Kilroe finishing as the runners up.

The 600kg competition followed, with some close ends in this weight. Raunds and Bosley finished on equal points at the end of the group round after beating the other teams but going to 1 end each with each other. The final was close, but this time it was Raunds who finished in first place with a 2 ends to 0 win.

The 680kg saw all four clubs taking to the mats again, with Uppertown going through the group unbeaten, followed by Raunds. Both teams pulled again in the final with Uppertown winning the competition by 2 ends to 0.

The 580kg competition was another good weight class. Raunds, Kilroe and Uppertown weighed in with 7 pullers to make the weights, which is allowed under TOWA rules for open competition, and Bosley weighed in with 8 pullers using some ladies in their team. Bosley finished on maximum points to top the group, followed by Raunds who finished as group runners up. Both teams gave us another good final, but this time Bosley ran out of steam and Raunds took the final by 2 ends to 0.

The final weight of the day was the 640kg competition. Kilroe had a strong group round, topping the group unbeaten, followed by Bosley who were second. Both teams met again in the final, with Kilroe taking both ends to win the competition.

The officials on the day were Dave Kitchener, Gavin Corden, Mike Callaghan, and the recorder was Caroline Abri, assisted by Rachel Lewis.
