2021 Indoor Tug of War Season

Final preparations for the 2021 indoor season are now in hand. As many people will already be aware, due to a change in opening hours at the Harry Mitchell Leisure Centre, which has been our indoor tug of war season venue for a number of years, we are not able to hold our indoor competitions there this year, as the centre is not currently operating at weekends.

The TOWA will be using another venue this year, which will be the hall at Bakewell Showground. This follows enquiries at a number of indoor venues that the TOWA has used in the past which are not available this year because they have already been booked up for other sports activities and events. As a result, the competition season will start 1 week earlier, with no competition the weekend before the nationals as the venue we will be using is not available on the last weekend of November.

There is a café on site where hot and cold refreshments can be purchased if required. The site is otherwise a short walk from Bakewell town centre.

The weigh in will revert back to the 10am weigh in with first pull at 11am - teams are kindly requested not to arrive at the weigh in at the last minute in order to enable competitions to start on time and be completed within the time available.

The fixtures will be as follows:

Please note that the TOWA will not be liable to pay for your parking if you forget your parking permit and the TOWA will not have any facilities available on the day to print any permits if you forget.

If your club intends to compete on the indoor circuit this year, and haven’t done so in previous seasons, please contact the TOWA Secretary, Mick Copper (mick.copper@tiscali.co.uk), in advance of the start of the indoor season to notify him of your intention to take part. This will assist with the final planning/running of events and will enable the Secretary to provide you with any additional information/details which may need to be communicated to participating clubs.
