Great Britain Tug of War Competing at the 2022 World Games
This week, The World Games take place in Birmingham, Alabama, USA.
The World Games is a multi-sport event which takes place every 4 years for IOC recognised sports which are not part of the full Olympic programme.
Tug of war is part of the World Games programme, with three weight classes being held at this years Games - mens 640kg, ladies 540kg and mixed 580kg.
Great Britain will be competing in all three weight classes after qualifying for the event at the 2021 TWIF World Championships in Getxo, Basque Country.
Great Britain will be represented by Lincoln TUG of WAR in the mens 640kg, and Bedford Ladies Tug of War in the ladies 540kg. These teams will then join forces to compete in the mixed 580kg competition.
The event will see the top 6 countries from the 2021 World Championships compete in each weight category as follows:
- Men 640kg - Great Britain , Switzerland , Germany , Netherlands , Belgium , Italy
- Ladies 540kg - Great Britain , Switzerland , Sweden , Chinese Taipei , Germany , Netherlands
- Mixed 580kg - Great Britain , Switzerland , Sweden , Germany , Italy , Netherlands
The dates and start times for each weight class are as follows:
- Thursday July 14th - Men 640kg - 1:30 PM (6.30pm UK time)
- Friday July 15th - Ladies 540kg - 1:30 PM (6.30pm UK time)
- Saturday July 16th - Mixed 580kg - 2:00 PM (7pm UK time)

UPDATE 1 - Please note that some of the streaming may not be shown live as the competition happens and might be broadcast after the completion of the competition.
UPDATE 2 - The streaming of today's (Thursday 14 June) World Games Competition will not be happening live on the World Games web site (it will be streamed as a recording on their web site at a later time - please refer to the World Games web site for timings), however TWIF will be attempting to stream the competition via their Facebook page if they are able to do so.

Important note - there are a lot of links being posted around on social media by anonymous / fake accounts pretending to be streaming sites for the World Games - Please do not click on them as they are scams.
