FWA Training League 2024 - Week 1 Results 10/03/2024

The FWA season kicked off today with the rearranged FWA Training League event kindly hosted by Haldon.
This event should have taken place at the end of February but due to the horrendous rain in the preceding weeks it had to be postponed due the ground being saturated.

Today the sun even came out and although we had a very heavy shower half way through the weather was kind to us and some very competitive pulling took place. 4 men’s and 3 ladies teams attended, which wasn't as high as we would have liked, but understandable given that it was a re-arranged fixture and it was also Mothers Day. Sandhurst, Anstey, Haldon and Honiton were the clubs that took part. All weights had 4 teams enter in the men’s weights and 3 teams in the ladies competitions, with 5 taking part in the mixed competition.

The competition started with the men’s 600kg run alongside the ladies 580kg.

Anstey proved very strong in the 600kg, finishing top followed by Sandhurst then Haldon and Honiton.

In the ladies Sandhurst were the victors with Anstey the runner up and finally Haldon

The men’s 680k was run by itself with Anstey gaining the spoils, Honiton the runner up then Sandhurst followed by Haldon.

Then up was the men’s 640k with the ladies 600k Anstey were once again the winners of the mens competition, with Sandhurst again the runner up, followed by Haldon then Honiton. Sandhurst won the ladies competition, with Anstey again the runner up, followed by Haldon.

The final weight of the day was the very closely contested mixed competition. The winners where Anstey with Haldon B finishing as runners up, followed by Sandhurst, Honiton then Haldon A.

A big thank you to Haldon TOWC for hosting this event.
